🏌️ THIS is WAY too easy!

Make golf hard again

Hi Golfer,

It’s Scottie’s world, and the rest of the PGA Tour is just living in it. The slowdown caused by the bump in the road that was Valhalla didn’t last as Scheffler picked up his 5th victory of the season (11th of his career) at the Memorial.

On the LPGA, Linnea Strom picked up her first career victory at the ShopRite Classic. I love that.

Looking ahead, we have a small equipment release tomorrow that might turn out bigger than you’d expect.

🤐 I’ve already said too much.

Onward …

🏌️ TOUR NEWS & OPINION

I Miss the Old U.S. Open

Our championship ain’t what it used to be

That old U.S. Open mentality started to fade as the 2010s went along. The equipment got better and a new generation of players mastered it. After 2018 at Shinnecock when the USGA got a little reckless with a couple hole locations, the setups started to become more reasonable. Some of the association’s leadership changed and the appetite for pushing players to the brink started to diminish.

In the five U.S. Opens since Shinnecock in 2018, the winning scores are averaging around 8-under. Player complaints are minimal. The courses are difficult but lack the ferocity that makes pro golfers sweat going to bed the night before.

TOGETHER WITH KJUS

The Most Underrated Golf Apparel Brand

Bliss is really spelled KJUS

Readers of MyGolfSpy likely know KJUS for one of two reasons.

1️⃣ It’s a multi-time winner in our Best Raingear category.
2️⃣ That time Connor stole my KJUS Brenton pants.

That first one is because this stuff is insanely good at protecting you from the elements. And I want to be clear, the elements are about way more than just rain.

The 2nd one, was just bitter jealousy. Technically, Connor did nothing wrong.

Anyway, while it’s not the first name golfers think of in all-season gear, in addition to keeping you dry, KJUS has gear to protect you from the wind, keep you warm when it gets chilly, and keep you cool when nature decides to crank up the broiler.

Basically, whatever elements you find yourself playing in, KJUS has something for you.

Today, Connor takes a closer look at how you can stay cooler on the hottest days.

🕵️ MONDAY SPY POLL

Music on the Course?

I was pulling forum topics for the newsletter when I stumbled upon a thread about music on the golf course. It’s one of the most polarizing topics in golf, as evidenced by the comments on our annual Bluetooth speakers buyer’s guide.

I think I know how this is going to go.

RUNNER Putters

Did They Stay in the Bag?

RUNNER was a surprise introduction to our Forum member testing platform this year. The French company has received awards for its innovative putters but was still relatively unknown among the community until the “Testers Wanted” opportunity came along.

With three models and a host of different features and technology, including a sliding weight, the community was amplely intrigued about how these putters could perform.

TESTERS WANTED

CaddyDaddy Golf Gloves

Not Your Daddy’s Leather' Glove

What separates the Claw gloves from traditional gloves is the material used and the durability claims. The Claw gloves are not made of leather but of suede and mesh. They claim to be machine washable and last up to, and even past, 25 rounds, depending on the model. That is a lot of golf for a single golf glove.

Another distinguishing feature is the silicone grip. Rather than a flat palm, the Claw gloves include silicone striping that adds to the grip as well as the durability of the gloves.

The final differentiator is that they claim to hold their shape longer. Traditional leather gloves stretch and wear, which can lead to a tight fit at first, but they tend to stretch over time. The Claw grips claim to hold their shape and fit for longer and are more breathable due to the mesh.

Do the claims hold up to testing?
