🏌️ LIV poaching more PGA Tour Players?

Answers inside

Hi Golfer,

Man, yesterday was a day (in the golf world).

Here’s your in-no-particular-order brief recap:

◾ Jon Rahm withdrew from the U.S. Open with a foot injury (he is not having the best year ever).

◾ Rory and his wife Erica canceled their divorce.

◾ Alan Shipnuck broke the news that the PGA Tour and PIF reached a draft agreement to finalize Saudi investment in the Tour (is that a framework for the framework?)

◾ And speaking of Alan … MyGolfSpy announced that Alan Shipnuck has joined the team and will provide coverage of the U.S. Open, Open Championship, and the Olympics (and some other stuff, too).

All that, and Pinehurst is looking gnarly and fast. The hoses are already out.

Can’t wait for the weekend.

Since many of the LIV contracts allegedly were only three-year deals, is the PGA Tour worried that LIV will poach more players next winter? @IIIWoodD

Who Will Win the U.S. Open

It’s one of these 10 Players (GUARANTEED)

We’ve gone two-for-two playing this game so far in 2024.

First, it was the obvious selection of Scottie Scheffler winning the Masters. And then it was Xander Schauffele finally rewarding my patience with a PGA Championship triumph.

So you heard it here first: One of these 10 guys on this list is winning the U.S. Open at Pinehurst.

Let me first address some of the players who did not qualify for the short list …

How Often Do Golfers Hit the Green From 100 Yards?

🤬 I can’t believe I missed the green from 100 yards!

Believe it, man. That’s the expected result.

You might believe that missing the green from 100 is a failure, but Shot Scope data shows us that an average golfer (15-handicap) will miss the green roughly 6 out of every 10 tries from that range.

They hit 40% of greens from ± 100 yards.

Is that more or less than you thought?

Let’s look at greens hit from 100 yards for other handicaps.

🔵 Scratch: 70%
🔵 5-handicap: 57%
🔵 10-handicap: 49%
🔵 20-handicap: 34%
🔵 25-handicap: 28%

I think we all know that hitting greens is important regardless of distance, but it’s telling that a 20-handicap is half as likely to hit a green from 100 yards as a scratch player.

Shot Scope will help you set realistic expectations so you don’t beat yourself up when you miss a green from 100-yards. The reality is that the majority of golfers will miss more often than they hit.

Short Par 4

Your Personal Shopper

Based on the contents of my Fairway box, I’d say that I definitely received more than $54.95 in value.

My box included:

Hat
Two polos
Belt
Golf balls
Golf towel

Just being honest; I’m a huge brand snob. So the Fairway Box may not be the perfect fit for me (I’m better suited for the Executive). But the more important question is whether or not Short Par 4 provides value.
