Callaway ELYTE Drivers

New for 2024

The tagline for the Callaway Elyte driver family is "Going from good to Elite" (while taking some liberties with spelling along the way).

To get there, Callaway emphasized breaking through some of the trade-offs between speed and forgiveness but in a way that doesn’t rely on throwing out a big MOI number and calling it a day.

The intention of Callaway's Elyte fairway woods and hybrids is the same as the driver: take a good product and make it exceptional. It's the sort of lofty rhetoric that looks great on a whiteboard but faces due criticism once all the cards are placed face-up.

Callaway has positioned itself as golf’s AI design leader, even though virtually every other major OEM leverages that technology to varying degrees. The new Elyte irons, however, do represent a very plain and simple-to-understand example of what AI brings to the design table.

Here’s what you need to know.

Max Homa has left Titleist for COBRA, which is interesting, I suppose, if only because it has been a while since a PGA Tour player changing equipment brands was the least bit noteworthy. We’d probably have to go back to John Rahm leaving TaylorMade for Callaway to find anything consequential.
