🏌️ Do THESE Irons make the cut?
a sheep in wolf's clothing
Hi Golfer,
How far do you hit your driver?
Perhaps the better question is how far should you?
We’ve got some interesting data from Shot Scope that looks at how far golfers are really hitting their drivers.
Today, a new no Putts Given drops, we’ve got two stories about putters, Sean narrows the field (slightly) at the PGA Championship, and Vokey drops its 2nd WedgeWorks release of the year.
Plus, what happens when the worst golfer at MyGolfSpy tries one of the most popular irons on the market right now?
Let’s find out.

TaylorMade P790 Copper Irons
A Sheep in Wolf’s Clothing
Connor is the self-professed worst golf at MyGolfSpy (challenge accepted), but he’s slowly improving and thinking about jumping from game improvement to something less clunky a little more streamlined and, in this case, coppery.
And for once, these Limited Edition TaylorMade P790s are available in left-handed.
Was there enough performance (or curb appeal) for Connor to make the jump?

How Far Should You Hit Your Driver?
Are You Above Average?
Relative to golfers of similar handicaps, are you longer off the tee? Using ShotScope’s performance average (or P-Avg) distance metric, here’s how far golfers of various abilities hit the ball with their driver.
🟦 Scratch: 285 yards
🟦 5 handicap: 261 yards
🟦 10 handicap: 259 yards
🟦 15 handicap: 236 yards
🟦 20 handicap: 225 yards
🟦 25 handicap: 204 yards
Not surprisingly, the best golfers in the Shot Scope database are the longest hitters (by plenty). The correlation between handicap and driving distance is undeniable.
How do you stack up relative to the rest of your handicap group?

Vokey WedgeWorks L Grind Lob Wedge
A Familiar Favorite Returns
If it were up to me (and it’s probably best it isn’t), WedgeWorks announcements would be televised.
📺 I’d host viewing parties
🐨 My Australian friend would come
🌮 Everyone would eat tacos and drink Fosters 🍺
💙 All of the wedges would come in Slate Blue (The Best Finish™).
The point is that when Vokey drops a new grind in WedgeWorks, I’m invariably here for it.
🧊 This time around, I’m a little more chill.
Y’all can still come to the party.

One of These Guys Will Win the PGA Championship
10 to Choose From
The year’s second major features three prominent players coming into the tournament coming off of a win, an oddity caused by pro golf’s convoluted calendar and Scottie Scheffler taking time off while becoming a dad for the first time.
So while I still wish the PGA went all-in on a match play format, we have the recipe for an exciting leaderboard come Sunday afternoon.
Who will come away victorious at Valhalla? I’ve studied it from every angle.
Here is who can win this week in Louisville.

Toulon Small Batch Valhalla
For the PGA Championship (Obviously)
Grab your horn-adorned helm and mighty hammer for, today, we enter Valhalla.
“But, Dave, I work a desk job. My daily conquests are menial, not mighty.”
Fret not, corporate raider for, this time, ‘’tis not valor that will allow you to reach Valhalla. A few weeks’ loot from thy aforementioned desk job will suffice.
Let thy engorged Venmo strike a mighty blow!
As it turns out, today’s Toulon Golf Small Batch Valhalla is not actually honoring the Viking afterlife but rather the Valhalla Golf Club where this year’s PGA Championship will be played.
Regardless, let’s take a look at this new Toulon release and see why they chose to commemorate an earthly golf course rather than the hall of the slain.

Are you a fan of the PING PLD Milled putter line but can’t find the exact putter you want at retail?
You could try the PING PLD Custom program.
👇 DOWNSIDE: It’s expensive AF, making it not a fiscally sound option for many.
