Hi Golfer,

Remember when I asked you about mini drivers?

Comparably few responded to the poll, which makes me think there’s not a ton of interest in the category. I get it. Fitting a mini driver in the bag is a challenge.

❌ Would you like a driver that’s shorter off the tee?
❌ How about a fairway wood that’s harder to hit off, well … the fairway?

For some, the compromise can be worth it, for others, probably not.

We selected four testers for this forum testing opportunity to receive the wedges they were fitted for by the PING WebFit app. Golfers had the choice of finish (Hydropearl 2.0 Chrome or Midnight) as well as shaft and grip options.

How Far Should You Hit Your Driver?

Golfers have a tendency to inflate their driving distance. We know this.

So, how far do golfers actually hit their drives?

Using Shot Scope’s p-avg metric (average with outliers removed), we see that average golfers aren’t testing the limits of the golf course.

Here are some key averages.

🔵 Scratch: 285 yards
🔵 5-handicap: 261 yards
🔵 10-handicap: 259 yards
🔵 15-handicap: 236 yards
🔵 25-handicap: 204 yards

If you hit it farther for your cohort, congrats on being above average. You should probably work on another area of your game. Shot Scope can help you identify opportunities for improvement.
