🚨 Don't Let THIS Happen to You

A few simple tips

Hi Golfer,

It’s Tuesday, but it feels like Monday, which is awesome.

Circling back to our poll from last week …

With Xander winning the PGA Championship, it’s time to elect a new “Best Player Who Hasn’t Won a Major”.

The voting wasn’t close.

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Viktor Hovland (451)
🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ Max Homa (139)
🟨⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ Patrick Cantlay (126)
⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ Ludvig Åberg (46)
⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ Other (17)
⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️⬜️ Talor Gooch (9)

It seems inevitable that Viktor will win a major. How long before we need to run this poll again?

Moving On …

Before we get to today’s news, we’re starting with some guidance from Sean on how to protect your clubs when traveling. As the video below shows, when it comes to traveling with our clubs, a good bit is out of our hands, but there are some things you can do to reduce the chances of damage.

🏌️ TOUR TRAVEL TUESDAY

✈️ Protect Your Golf Clubs When Flying

Normally on Tuesdays, Sean writes about the Tour, but in light of a recent travel incident, he’s going off-script to give you some tips for traveling with your clubs.

Last week, a video from East Tennessee State University’s golf team went viral. The short clip showed two workers throwing the team’s golf clubs—with no care for any damage being caused—while transferring them from a Delta flight.

Come on, guys. It looked like harder work to throw them than it would have been to carry them over to the cart. And we couldn’t get the cart any closer?

This will be no surprise to anyone who travels regularly. Airlines don’t care about your golf clubs, or any of your luggage for that matter. What happens to your clubs in the bowels of a major airport is not something you want to see.

With that in mind, be proactive. Pack your travel bag with some thought.

Start with a quality travel bag. It doesn’t guarantee anything, but it matters. If protection is your top priority, you may want to go with an option like the Sun Mountain Club Glider, OGIO Alpha Max or PING Rolling Travel Cover.

Take off any clubheads you can and put them in a safe place. That removes any possibility of opening your bag to see a dent in your driver.

Use a stiff-arm support bar, such as the Bag Boy Backbone, to act as a spine in your bag. That will protect the longer clubs that are more susceptible to damage.

Put socks over the top of irons and wedges, or even inside your golf shoes to reduce the possibility of crushing. If you don’t want to use socks, a golf towel or beach towel wrapped in between your clubs is also effective.

And if you don’t want to risk going through the airlines at all, there is always Ship Sticks.

Don’t be a victim. Golf is hard enough without damaged clubs.
