šŸ”„ BEST putter from 10 feet

No more 2-putts

Hi Golfer,

Do you play a blade or mallet?

I tend to hop back and forth, although Iā€™m probably more consistent with a mallet. I need all the help I can get.

The putter is one of those clubs that you either switch weekly or once every decade. Which side of the fence are you on?

How often do you change putters?

Best Mallet Putters from 10 Feet

Thatā€™s a gimme

The 10-foot range is make or break. If you want to lower your score, you need to hole more 10 foot putts. These mallet putters are the best in this regard.

P-series vs Qi Irons

Which is right for your game?

We compared TaylorMadeā€™s mainstream iron lineup to figure out who fits into what. Are you a P-series player or a Qi player?

OPINION

When does it count as a hole in one?

Does an ace on a par 3 course count?

Iā€™m more than a little irritated at the endless number of ā€œdisqualifiersā€ the golf world has compiled for situations where a hole-in-one is no longer legitimate. This game is supposed to be fun, rewarding and welcomingā€”canā€™t we loosen up a little bit on some of these unwritten rules?

TOUR TUESDAY

The PGA Tour season ends this week

Back in 2019, the Tour Championship changed its format to a staggered scoring method where each player starts the event at a score representing their place in the FedEx Cup.

For instance, Scottie Scheffler starts this week at 10-under, leading by two strokes over Xander Schauffele (8-under). Of the 30 players, 25 of them start the week at 4-under or worse.

Wherever a player finishes the tournament is where he finishes the FedEx Cup. That avoids the possibility of one player winning the Tour Championship and another winning the FedEx Cup, making it easier for everyone to understand.

I donā€™t necessarily hate the format. It creates an interesting dynamic as a great leaderboard is more likely. A player like Scheffler doesnā€™t need any help, but he deserves the head start based on his play this yearā€”even if he calls the format ā€œsilly.ā€

The staggered scoring method could give us a better tournament. It might be entertaining.

Ultimately, the problem is that any method they choose is clearly contrived. Itā€™s a cash-funneling system to pay the top players.

The FedEx Cup is about rewarding players financially. The players would like to win, but they donā€™t need to win like we see in the majors. There is no real legacy at stake.

There is no scoring method or system that can change that. Itā€™s indicative of how the Tour is set up for the players first rather than starting as an entertainment product that cares about its fans.

I might tune in to the Tour Championship intermittently throughout the week. Iā€™ll check the scores and keep tabs on how itā€™s goingā€”but I canā€™t promise anything more than that.
