🏌️ The BEST Club that isn't in your bag ...
but it should be
Hi Golfer,
Let’s start today with a reminder not to be too hard on yourself. That’s probably good life advice, but it’s also true on the golf course.
I’d wager that many, if not most, golfers beat themselves up when they fail to get up and down from inside 50 yards, but insights from the Shot Scope database suggests you shouldn’t.
QUESTION: What percentage of the time do you think a 15-handicap golfer gets up and down from inside 50 yards?
The answer to that question (along with some additional data) is in the Golf Smarter section below.

The Rise of the 7-Wood
Should you add one to your bag?
You may have heard me say it before, but it’s worth repeating.
🔣 The 7-Wood is an absolute cheat code.
Compared to the alternatives (hybrids and utility irons), golfers often find that the 7-wood flies higher and straighter and lands softer.
It’s an easier way to play golf.
Using data from Shot Scope and details from the MyGolfSpy community, Jamie looks at the rise of the 7-wood.

Up and Down from Inside 50
Nobody is as good as we think
It might surprise you that most golfers struggle to get up and down, even from relatively short distances.
🔵 From inside 50 yards, a 15-handicap golfer will successfully get up and down 34% of the time.
🔵 10- and 5-handicaps will get up and down 39% and 47% of the time, respectively.
🔵 Inside 50 yards, scratch golfers get up and down 54% of the time.
Is that more or less than you expected?

SuperStroke Buys Lamkin Grips
Anything But a Surprise
SuperStroke has purchased Lamkin Grips, a family business that spanned three generations.
A few years back, Bob Lamkin told us this day was inevitable as none of his children had expressed any interest in taking over.
It’s a smart move for SuperStroke.
Despite being the dominant force in the putter grip market, the company has struggled to make any serious headway with full-swing grips.
That’s the strength of the Lamkin brand, which holds a solid #2 position in the market. As confounding as the golf equipment world can sometimes be, this move makes infinite sense.
TOGETHER WITH MACGREGOR
MT Milled Putters
100% Milled, 100% Value
Sub-$200 fully milled putters are a rarity, but that’s exactly what MacGregor is offering up as the latest in its resurgent catalog.
There are 4 models to choose from (2 blades, and 2 mallets) and each putter comes with a magnetic headcover.
None of this is what you’d expect for $160, but it’s exactly what you’ll get.
